J’adore this stunning antique French coin pendant from 1910. She’s a European classic, the eminent French 20 franc Marianne gold coin, also known as “The French Marianne and Rooster coin”.

Marianne is a symbol of the French Republic from the French revolution in 1789 to 1799. She represents the slogan “Liberty, Equality et Fraternity” and symbolizes the mother of the country who protects her children of the Republic.

Marianne wears the so called red Phrygian hat. This hat is a symbol for freedom as the first ones was worn by slaves in Greece and Rome.

The Marianne coin only ran from 1899-1914, and is a highly sought after collectors item, and tangible gold investment (just as we like it!).
