Like a fragment of a golden summer garden preserved for a century.l 💐✨

Made in Malmö in 1921, this extraordinary necklace is a beautiful example of Scandinavian cannetille work at its most romantic. Delicate cannetille spirals of 18k gold unfurl like vines and tendrils, creating an intricate lacework of gold that feels almost impossibly light despite the remarkable craftsmanship behind it.

At the center rests a BIG luminous aquamarine, its cool blue tones glowing softly against the warmth of the gold. The elongated pear-shaped aquamarine catches light beautifully and draws the eye through the graceful silhouette of the pendant, while the smaller aquamarine above acts like a tiny pool of clear water nestled among golden blooms.

I especially love how airy she feels. The openwork construction allows light to pass through every curve and scroll, giving the entire piece a sense of movement and life. She has all the romance of the Art Nouveau period while still feeling wonderfully wearable more than a century later.

She is crafted in 18k gold and set with natural aquamarines. The pendant measures approximately 2.28 x 0.91 inches, the chain measures approximately 19 inches in length, and weighs around 8 grams.

Excellent condition with minor signs of age. All colored areas are just reflections from the surroundings. The clasp closes securely.

Cannetille was a decorative jewelry technique that became especially popular in the late Georgian and early Victorian periods. It uses very fine gold wire that is curled, coiled, and shaped into elaborate spirals, rosettes, scrolls, and loops, creating an airy, lace-like appearance.
